Employer Branding: your weapon to attract talent!
This last few months have accelerated the digital shift of companies. If the global COVID-19 crisis has taught us anything, it is how many options we have for remaining connected with the people and companies in our lives. Social media, digital content, emails, text messages, and video conferencing are efficient methods of communication and sharing information. They are also vital tools for helping you manage your employer brand footprint and attract top talent in this time of social distancing.
In this new era, the Talent War will be on which employer attracts the Best Talent and Employer Branding is going to be crucial in this role.
It’s no longer about the Food you offer, or the desk space, or the swimming pool you have at the office. It is now about your Values, your Culture, how you handle Diversity at work. Using Social Media and Digital platforms will help build a great Employer Brand.
1) Innovative strategies to approach talent acquisition
Companies have been taking a very strategic approach to talent acquisition, being very inventive to attract and especially retain valuable candidates.
Job seekers today are picky, they don’t apply to any role. They are “passively looking” and will only apply to those compelling job offers or companies they know enough about. With Social Media and websites such as Glassdoor, it is fundamental that companies develop their online brand presence and their e-reputation. Good candidates are hard to get so you have to have a compelling message and as much information available to attract them. Having the “working with us section” on companies website or “what it’s like to work with us” with videos showcasing the company culture & values is essential to attract your future top talent.
Candidates want to know as much as possible about the job, company, culture and corporate values, and today we, Recruiters need to be prepared to have open and honest conversations about the role but most importantly about what’s the added value of the company and “what’s in it for them”.
2) Keeping up with online trends and social media pages
Social media pages such as Facebook, Linkedin, Xing, Glassdoor and Instagram are key to the employer. It’s more important than ever to illustrate the company culture with videos, pictures, employee’s testimonials, the benefits of joining the workforce and building a strong careers’ site. The stories speak for themselves and employees are the company’s best brand ambassadors to portray the culture!
Whether you are an in-house recruiter or not you need to sell your client’s environment, the mission statement and the ethics they have as an employer. Take a minute to reflect upon those brands that inspire you that you have always wanted to work for and look at their online presence and brand identity as employers. You might get inspiration!
3) Using the right Tools and Automate
With Social media sites being so busy with information, it is challenging for a brand to keep their place online.
In order to achieve this, using the right tools is very important, so that you can automate and be consistent in your online activity.
Social Media posting tools are key to succeed in this Employer Branding battle.
New tools are also now available to create internal staff videos to use when trying to attract new Talent. Those enable feedback being given by engaged employees who want to help attract talent and they are very efficient!! It’s like a video glassdoor.
With these new technologies, you will not only be quicker in attract the right talent but you will also ensure you treat your staff right, as if you don’t…. well, your competitors will take the Best Talent and possibly yours!
My advice: this is a competitive market place – think ahead of the game and action on it.
